Wartime facilities

A friend is researching his family and has come across a reference to BBC premises at Penketh, Lancashire. The property, Greenbank, was bought by the BBC in 1939 and sold in 1945. After the sale two rooms were still marked ‘Studio1’ and ‘Studio2’.
It is thought there may be a link to a nearby RAF base, Burtonwood.
Does anyone know anything of this former BBC facility? Grateful for any details.
Regards
Trevor Taylor.
